Title:Breaking
Prompt:Cracked bathroom mirrors
Pair:jaechun
Rating:PG
Disclaimer:I don't own either of them, nor their bandmates, though I wish I did~
Summary:Breaking is inevitable...
Thanks to Jenna for sticking the idea of writing jaechun in my head, then giving me the prompt~
Every day, there was a new crack.
With every chink to the already wounded glass, it would spider off into dozens of tinier ones. Each tiny crack was still a crack, however, and it was no less vulnerable than the larger.
As he stared impassively at his fragmented reflection in the old and cracked bathroom mirror, he was seeing what he knew was there. It was a series of scars, invisible to the naked eye, but clearly seen to himself. With every attack to his character, the spidering effect would continue.
Slowly shattering glass was going to shatter. That was simply a given. All it needed was the right amount of force before it was beyond repair.
"Chun?"
Through the jagged reflection, the young man saw another. The man was angled just right, leaving himself free of the breaks. Walking closer, his luck seemed to hold as he remained miraculously untouched.
"How?" he asked quietly, aware that the newcomer would hear.
"How what?" he wondered, voice just as quiet.
"How do you avoid the cracks?"
The blond singer turned his onyx gaze toward the mirror before shifting his gaze to Yoochun's. "Look carefully, Chun-ah. It's unavoidable."
Doing what he was asked, Yoochun looked closer. Small minute cracks leaked into the elder's reflection, marring the beauty of the man behind him. A moment later, he felt arms around his waist and a firm chest pressed against his bare back.
"No matter what, when you're breaking, so am I," he answered matter-of-factly. "You're a part of me, and when you hurt, so do I." He placed a feather light kiss to his neck, and Yoochun relaxed slightly in the embrace.
While it was painful to endure, he knew that Jaejoong was with him throughout every painful crack. Smiling, he remembered his one and only truth.
Whether or not the world was breaking down around him...
...there was just something so beautiful in the breaking.
